Gina gets triple extension (ankles, knees, hips) while Mikey receives the bar and makes that mean face again.
Ever try to lighten up? Not just laugh and carry on, but take some weight off yourself in a metcon. Actual pounds that you’re lifting. Just once in a while. To see what it feels like. You’ll be amazed at how the workout will change if you have 10lbs less on the bar.
What happens? Well, it becomes far less “Oh God, can I lift this again?” and far more “Oh God, can my heart take this?”
The mental game shifts from “I WILL get through this” to “MOVE IT! Don’t you slow down at all!”
Think about that the next time you’re going to start a metcon with the barbell. Play with the weight. Decide what your goal is. And then head for it. But do NOT allow yourself to ease the intensity AND the weight. Pick your challenge and stay true to it.
Ever see that scene is “Officer and a Gentleman” where Zach reaches breaking point? It’s time to either man up or give up. And he ultimately decides to man up. Do the same, whatever the weight that’s on you.

Man up or give up. Love it. Right now my goal is only to make it through the WOD. I think next year I may change up the goal to actually increase weight or decrease time. Part of my 5 year plan.

DT is probably my favorite workout. This is why I hate taking rest days. These WODs invariably pop up on the day I decide to (or am told that I have to) skip.
We’re leaving this afternoon and hope to be up there by 8:00 for registration.
I have two tickets to Brewfest tomorrow if anybody that’s going to be around wants them.

I hope Mikey doesn’t mind me saying this, but he had the coolest missed rep ever yesterday. He was losing his grip but went for one more hang clean rep. He was at triple extension when the bar flew out of his hands in a cloud of chalk dust, just as he was trying to get under it. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it, but it was cool because you could see his intensity and his desire to not put the bar back down. See you all in Albany!!!
