That I need to get better at ring rows. And a thousand other things.
That I need to work on all the things that I don’t want to work on. In the gym and in my personality.
That lifting makes me stronger but running is important too.
That just because you’re strong doesn’t mean you should always use that strength. In the gym or in life. Skill is vital. Even more so with people than the barbell.
That just because you do a bad thing doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, anymore than a bad lift doesn’t make you a bad lifter.
That smiling and laughter are possibly the most important ingredients to our day. Forget them and you’re lost.
That chalk is overrated.
That compassion is underrated.
That hard times reveal a lot. In you and in others.
That it’s never too late to do the right thing. If you miscounted your reps, add some more. If you messed up the movement, do it over. If the clock’s already stopped, who cares. Make it right for yourself.
That CrossFit has made me a better athlete and a better person. And that sharing CrossFit is pretty much my life’s mission. We are all broken in some way. CrossFit can’t fix everything, but it can help you find your strength, in many many areas.
That every day the sun comes up and you’re still breathing is a good one. It’s up to you to make it a better one. Stop complaining and start doing. Life is short. Very short. Grab it and run like the wind while you’re still here.

Best written article I’ve seen in a while. Everything you said is so simple but important to a CrossFitters life. Everything except maybe chalk…you can never have enough chalk. We’d love for you to consider submitting a story for CrossFit Story, check it out and see what you think.

Am I the only one that finds ring rows to be harder then pullups? FYI – I happen to have a love affair with chalk, I consider chalking up before long drives, opening doors, beer shopping and pumping gas.

Dan, I’m with you on ring-rows, they might not be harder but they definitely take longer.

Dan, I also agree with you about the chalk but that’s not going to stop me from slipping you laxative before the Albany competition. Just kidding… or am I?

As always, Rockstar wins comment of the day . . . although Dan gets honorary mention.
Thanks, Arell!
