William Shakespeare was the first person to popularize the saying “Go, girl.” Serious as a heart attack, that’s the truth. In Act I, Scene 3 of “Romeo and Juliet” old Billy S. has the Nurse saying, “Go, girl, seek happy nights to happy days.”
Shakespeare would have loved CrossFit. We produce happier women than any fitness program in America, maybe on Earth. There’s something empowering about the weights and the steel and the iron. Something about the runs and the rows and the sprints. Something about pushing the Prowler and pulling the sleds and getting to yell the word “F***” right out loud if you blow a lift. Something about getting your chin up over the pull-up bar and getting off your knees on those push-ups. Something about not asking permission anymore to live life. Something about growing strong and loving it.
I’ve written about it ten times at least and I could write about it a million times more. Hell, I want to shout it from the rooftop of our building every single day. CrossFit builds stronger women, stronger mothers, stronger lovers, stronger daughters, stronger wives, stronger friends. And that’s a good thing. No, that’s a great thing, for everyone.
Go girl. Seek happy nights to happy days. CrossFit.

Great article… and so very true!!!

So the CFW blog is still on life support? Not even a gorgeous picture and great post can revive it…
July 2nd, 2010 at 10:10 am
Dan, sad but true. Our members have abandoned it. Almost makes me want to start producing a shitty blog. One fuzzy photo and maybe the WOD. Sure would take a lot less of my time.

Let’s start a dialogue. Who wants to play soccer tomorrow morning?
July 2nd, 2010 at 10:39 am
I dare not say anything. The ladies of CFW are getting way too strong and I fear for my well being. I could easily be forcefully taken advantage of, though it might take at least 2 of you just to be on the safe side.
Signed,
Creepy pervy 6pm guy

Hard to comment on this one. I don’t want to piss any of these girls off!

LOL Nate, you always know just what to say!

I’m thinking CFW soccer is the warm-up tonight for the 5pm class.
July 2nd, 2010 at 11:56 am
Nate, be honest, it may take 3 or more ladies to take you down. Due to Jax’s perfectly timed nap, I missed the nooner today. Too bad, because the daytime classes have been rocking lately. On a serious note, has anyone seen an article about the accident that happened outside the gym yesterday? Derek and I were talking about it, how someone was simply driving home from work or something, and ended up dying outside our gym. I have trouble comprehending stuff like that.

That is so sad. Some old lady, just doing her thing, and an idiot crosses the line and kills her.
July 2nd, 2010 at 2:40 pm
that is terrible
July 2nd, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Okay, after that downer, let’s just be happy she lived a long 83 years! And she was still driving and let’s presume she was happy! Kicking ass, taking names, and giving her grandchildren heck! In fact, I think she still loved her bourbon and going to the casinos. She won big last week at Mohegan and she was headed to the liquor store to stock up on some Michter’s and a fistful of scratch-offs. Her end was swift. She never knew what hit her. She was happy.
That’s my image and I’m sticking to it.

I’m a Crossfitter from MA who trains @ CrossFit Providence in RI, yet I read this blog every day, without fail.
Lisbeth, your comments are the most inspiring, powerful endorsements of Crossfit I have read.
Building stronger women and men is a great thing. Crossfit is changing the world, one person at a time.
I hope you continue to post these little gems of truth and commitment.
Go girl!
Thanks.

Ummm I wait for this blog to be posted every day! If you stop posting a small part of me will die! Lis, I will throw some elbows in your general direction and then slay you with my vicious rhetoric!
July 2nd, 2010 at 11:01 pm
AWWWW!! Thanks Brian!!!
@ Nate—- May I apply for one of these positions?? I could take ya lol
July 2nd, 2010 at 11:49 pm
Wow, thanks Brian! I guess I get caught up in my own world sometimes and don’t think about the silent impact this blog might have. Okay, chin is back up and I’m still in the ring. I appreciate the support!
And Rachael, let’s just say I’ve seen you play soccer and I’m a little scared of those elbows, real or rhetorical! Yellow card . . .
P.S. Nate — K and I are coming over. Well, except that we’re scared of your wife. I’m pretty sure she could take both of us. Or, rather, just me since I haven’t hit anyone since Danny Piscatelli in the cloak room in the 8th grade. But he never did try to flip up my skirt again. And, in the true circle of life, we are Facebook friends today!

Lis, if Rachael throws an elbow, just take a dive before she’s even 5 feet of you and pretend you were hit by a nuclear explosion, and she’ll get a red card and miss the rest of the game, AND the next game. You’ll be safe for a while longer at least. And, we all love the blog, even if we don’t post a comment right away. I often get distracted at work and don’t get a chance to get back to it. And, we seem to have a national following. Everyone loves CFW!!!!!
