Jillian, Rachael, and Becky getting down with their bada** backsquatting selves at an all-girl CrossFit Football Sunday Morning Jam.
This is why CrossFit is unstoppable. These three women right here. They got up on a Sunday morning and came in to backsquat and box jump and get a little stronger, a little faster, a little more capable to take on the world.
These three women probably won’t save the world. Neither will you or I. None of us will, single-handedly. But you’re looking at a speech therapist, a nursing student, and a history teacher. We would be foolish to underestimate their impact on others — it is far-reaching and it is deep. And they each have a well of compassion for others that we would do well to emulate. So what does CrossFit add to them? Strength, perseverance, fortitude. Now, go back and take those brains and that knowledge and that compassion and add it all together into one package with a phenomenal kick-butt, never-quit attitude. A race of super-women just got born again. Baptism by iron. Life just got a whole lot more interesting, huh?
Unstoppable. These women. This thing we call CrossFit. It might look like it’s only exercise on a Sunday morning but there’s a whole lot more than that going on here.

A couple of nuggets of info for ya’ll:
Most likely, we’re going to be switching to using my MobileMe Gallery for the CFW photo archives. You can go here: http://gallery.me.com/lisbeth42#gallery and you should see 4 albums and a video of Jordan. Holler if you can’t access it.
And, more exciting news: I just pulled the trigger on the new equipment order, so we’ll be getting the following in the near future for more fun:
Med Balls: 2 x 20lb, 3 x 14lb, 1 x 12lb, 1 x 10lb
Slamball: 1 x 20lb
5 pairs of 45lb bumpers
5 pairs of 25lb bumpers
5 pairs of 15lb bumpers
1 men’s bar
6 x 20lb dumbbells
8 x 25lb dumbbells
8 x 30lb dummbells
And a slew of rubber mats and a redesigned pull-up bar system are in the works too. Good times!

Jordan is a show-off!!! Jordan, can you do muscle ups? I’m guessing if you worked on them for a bit, you could get them. That would be pretty bad ass. On another note, dumbbell workouts are painful so I’m looking forward to more of those with that shipment coming in. In the photos, if you hit the arrow real fast when I’m doing HSPU’s, it looks like a movie. Very cool. See you guys Tuesday.

Seriously, I can’t take all the awesomeness. You write my thoughts before I think them!

I am both scared and curious about that slamball.
And, sooooo…. remove picasa, add mobileme gallery in the sidebar?
Lastly, just so no one freaks out or anything, I am taking tonight off, maybe tomorrow as well. My body has a myriad of minor pains going on and I am thinking it wise to take a day or two and let it heal up.
Might even try to get out on the bike and cause some different pains.
Nostrovia!

I love the new MobileMe Gallery. It’s so Mac-esque I’m geeking out!
And Lis, I’m flattered by your words on the blog today so thank you!
I forget that people have lives outside of Crossfit and when I remember I’m like wow, we really have some amazing people here- this definitely helped me to remember that!

Meghan — thanks for the kind words! And I just went over to your blog and found these FANTASTIC words:
“How the Crossfit box gives off such an aura of love and acceptance and encouragement that you cannot, I repeat CANNOT walk in there without leaving and feeling different. A lift, even when it’s failed, gives you something on which to focus your mind when your spirit is broken. A conditioning workout takes you right back to where it really matters – your breath, in, out, in, out. If you feel like you can’t go on, just breathe deep for 3, 2,1 and get back under the bar.”
You got it right, sister! Nice work!

@Rachael . . . people have lives outside of CrossFit? Why do I feel like I’m in the second grade and my cousin Maura just told me there’s no Santa Claus?

@Beery: Look what I discovered:
Oregon CrossFit is hosting the 2nd annual BEER RUN! This year the event is a fundraiser for the Oregon CrossFit Affiliate Team. The money earned will go toward the trip to the CrossFit 2010 Games in LA.
*$20 per person or $30 per couple
* BBQ and BEER and 1 raffle ticket provided
* $5 per raffle ticket or $10 for 3 (extra)
…
Perhaps we need a Watertown/Oakville Beer Run? Up to OJoe’s (Shhhh–K, don’t say a word) and then over to Daveluy’s, maybe finish at Triple Play. I just did MapMyRun and they say 3.84 miles if we get picked up at TP, 5 miles if we run all the way back to CFW.

The problem with a beer run like that will be getting me out of the first stop. I think it would be extremely likely that I just ended up staying at OJoes.

Thanks for the kind words right back, Lisbeth. Hoping that I can meet you in person soon. I’ve really never had a reason to come up to Connecticut but I’m thinking that a Watertown visit would be soo worth it.
