1.) You really can wallball almost anywhere.
2.) We played a new version of Slam Football (with a basketball), but Rockstar still turned it into rugby.
3.) The “mature gentlemen” will work like madmen to win Friday Night Fights. Congrats to Ray and fellow “R&R Master” Rich for taking the belt this week!
The next few weeks are going to be very busy, as many of us head up to Albany CrossFit this weekend to watch/volunteer at the CrossFit Games Northeast Regionals (and Melissa competes!) and the following weekend we host the sold-out CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification with renowned Coach Mike Burgener.
SCHEDULE ALERT: We are CLOSED this Sat and Sunday. There is also a very real possibility that the Fri 5pm will be canceled too, as most of our coaches will be in Albany. Stay tuned for news on that class.

Mikey, wasn’t it Slamball… with an awkward object?

You know we haven’t played dodgeball or kickball in months?
Good luck this weekend Meliss, I think our social calendars prevent us from spectating this weekend.

Outdoor Slam Football was fun. Friday Night Fights was awesome, Ray never once put the barbell down for 17 sets.
Melissa, I’m sure we will see you before we leave but no matter the WOD’s in Albany we all know you will kick ass. See you in Calif.

1.) I think Anita is on steroids. 15 burpees in the first round? Holy hell! Viv and I only got 13 and we were in a fight to the death!
2.) I think we need to establish a standard for marking up the WOD when dumbbells are used? The board says “50 lbs” which I took to mean Men’s RX was 50lbs each hand? I guessed women’s would be 30lbs and I used that. I think I was right? So when we write on the board what we used, it should be per DB, not total weight of DBs. No one else probably cares but me, still, it helps my OCD nature.
3.) Viv — have you looked at the board? Just wondering. XOXOXOXO

@Lis, I’m glad you brought up the Rx weights. I weigh 240 on a good day and I don’t think it’s fair to others if I get to use the same weight as Mikey or Derek for example, who weigh considerably less than me. I would imagine the same goes for women. I was under the impression that women go at approximately 2/3 men’s weight because the average body weight of women is about 2/3 of men’s average body weight. What’s the CrossFit ruling on this? Should we be scaling up or down based on body weight?
Secondly, I would like to thank Mikey for pointing this one out to me.

It makes the Tough Mudder look like walkathon. I’m emailing the guy about spots in 2011. 2010 is in like a month and I’m not paying $400 to be subjected to what could easily be considered legal torture. It looks like it’s only $60 if we sign up well in advance for 2011.

CFFB rx’d for that WOD was 50#DBs and a 2 pood KB.Rx’d is Rx’d

Beery — here’s the “official” CrossFit position: There is only RX’d and nothing else. One weight specified. No women’s weight, no bigger person’s weight, no little people weight. Just one. Everything else is scaling.
Common sense CrossFit brings us to the CrossFit Brand X page, however, where they take the RX weight and hit the .6 for calculations to come up with a weight that is equivalent for women.
As for scaling up or down on body weight, that’s dicey territory and a matter we could debate for hours. Don’t have time to do it all here but grab me in the club room (wait, that doesn’t sound right) and I’ll explain more.
And now I’ve used a whole bunch of words to explain what Spamela did with the simple “RX’d is Rx’d.”
