J-man leads the class in a warm-up while Melissa assists and Erin demonstrates her fledgling ability to levitate/fly/whatever. (Pick that other arm up, Erin, and GO!)
It’s interesting to watch what each coach brings to the class — it’s not always the same bent, even when we teach the same thing, and that’s a good thing. Our variation is our strength in CrossFit, at CrossFit Watertown, and in life. For example, you might leave Melissa’s class with a better sense of how your body works and what you can do to improve your own kinesthetic awareness, while Jen’s class might help you to master that bodyweight movement, and my class will leave you with a fuller understanding of how you can use the movement to better your own life, physically and mentally. It all works and it’s kinda cool.
In other news, Saturday is a big day for us as we host two benefit WODs: one for the American Cancer Society and one for the Fort Hood soldiers and their families. So, we’re all going to take Sunday off. Open gym is canceled on Sunday morning. You’re going to need a Rest Day, trust us.

Looking forward to Saturday!
I love the different strengths and personalities of our coaches! It has definitely made me a stronger person – all around.
And congratulations to Barry who got 19 consecutive pull-ups last night during the first round of the WOD – of course I need to brag – he is my hubby! To the coaches – our accomplishments are because of you!

Hey all,
Saturday is going to be a blast. We have some very challenging WOD’s planned. My hope is that you’ll have fun with them. I’m not concerned with record times or using record setting weights. My hope is that we think about the battle that others have in front of them or behind them.
These are just two WOD’s to remind us that we are all in this together! No one fights alone! So have fun, smile and enjoy the fact that we can support others and each other in big and small things!

whooot whooot!!! congrats Barry!!!!!
I love you guys, we have a great coaching staff!! The varied backgrounds and opinions you guys have really help you to understand the WOD’s, your body and your body’s reactions to what ur are putting it through.. and the slightly different approaches and schools of thought make each time slot a totally different class, I love it..CFW rocks and that’s all I have to say about that

Rockstar — yessiree.
Congrats to Beery on his 19 pull-ups! Nice!
And, for those of you who didn’t see it, Big D had a 185lb thruster the other night. Very sweet to watch.

Rough crowd this morning… Ok.. just Lis and Rockstar.
December 2nd, 2009 at 11:51 am
ok so…there are 3 wods on sat & the lumberjack wod?
1 – 5k Run (9:30)
2 – Run / Situp / Pushup / Squat Combo (9:30)
3 – Clean / Wallball / Run (11:00)
4 – Lumberjack WOD (2:00)
Are the first 3 for Sue’s Mom / AMCS?? How many wods are people doing and who’s doing which wods?? Although I despise running and have never ran more then 2 miles in a clip I think I’m actually leaning towards the 5k at this point.

And congrats to Barry on 19 consecutive Kipping pullups…Big D on his 185lb thruster (that hurts just thinking about it)….and I hear Mikey did all kipping pullups for last nights wod?!? He can pretty much say goodbye to his baby soft hands at this point

Dan-
The first 3 WODS are for the Mom/AKS Workout…the idea being that those who want only a run can pick #1…those who want a CrossFit-type WOD but are not “Big Dogs” can pick #2. WOD #3 would be for those of us who CrossFit regularly. We put that one a bit later so that some of us would be around to help with the first two workouts.
After the morning session, we have a little lunch if people want to say straight through and then the Lumberjack/FortHood WOD is at 2pm.
We’re going to have a quickie meeting this Thursday between the 5 and 6pm class just to finalize plans and make sure everyone knows what’s happening.
And I agree with Jen…its going to be a great day.
