Decide to Conquer It

CFW Daily

lismelisrowLike it or not, winter is coming — which means more rowing, less running. And there’s only one thing that will make rowing more enjoyable — deciding that you’re going to conquer it.

You can either think “My rowing sucks” and “My rowing could use a little work” . . . or you can decide “I’m going to learn how to use that #$%^&** rower and I’m going to stop getting my butt whupped by 43-year-old mother with a 28″ inseam!”

The Concept II rower is a simple machine that rewards those with good technique and punishes those who do not learn to use their bodies efficiently while using them powerfully.

We have the knowledge and the coaching to make you a better rower. Do you have the heart?

    “Don’t hope, my friend. Decide.”

  2. mike # 3 Says:

    I like rowing, I like rowing, I like rowing, I like rowing…

  3. David K Says:

I like rowing. Who doesn’t like rowing?

  4. Lisbeth Says:

There are those who hate rowing, and do it poorly.
And those who like rowing, and do it poorly.
And then there are those who like rowing, and do it well.
But show me someone who hates rowing and does it well, and I say you have found a teacher.

  5. Lisbeth Says:

(And yes, I have been reading the Tao Te Ching again.)

  6. Rockstar Says:

I dislike rowing but it makes my booty perky

  7. David K Says:

Lis, thank you for posting those Youtube videos. I have now wasted an hour, oh, if I could only stay focused. Rowing form led to rowing crashes which led to the world record 500M on the erg which led to, lets just say other world records. I must get back to work.

  8. Lisbeth Says:

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Post of the Day by Rockstar!

  9. mike # 3 Says:

I dislike anything that requires all that work to go no where. Rowing is by far my least favorite thing to do i Crossfit.

  10. Chris Says:

I can’t help but think that today’s post is talking directly to me. The little rowing clinic that we did a few weeks ago helped, but I’ve still got a ways to go. At least I get it now. Slow down, slow down, slow down…

  11. Jill Says:

all this talk about winter & rowing is depressing me. going out for a run to make it better!!!

  12. Lisbeth Says:

    The winter will come.
    Let it.
At least the cold is not in your heart.

  13. mike # 3 Says:

Yeah. Let it come. Who needs virtual shoveling. Real men and women shovel real snow.

  14. David K Says:

@Mike, do you have the same feelings for virtual shoveling that you do for rowing? All that shoveling with nothing to show for it.

  15. Sue Says:

Lis…making with the profound poetry…how sublime.

  16. Lisbeth Says:

    Susan.
Woman of strength in many ways.
Let us remember: The heart is a muscle too.

  17. mike # 3 Says:

Yes I do. No big pile of snow to admire.

  18. melissa Says:

I WILL learn to row….this way no 43yr old, 23′ inseaming, smack talking mama won’t be able to leave me in the dust on that damn erg!

    I will learn to row.
Then I can kick your butt Lis.
    No more bad rowing.

  19. Sue Says:

Yes! It’s Hiaku Tuesday at CFW!!!

    Ahhhhhh, the rower.
The power is in the pull.
    Moving while still.

  20. Lisbeth Says:

    Your haiku, askew.
Five, seven, five holds the key.
    Teaching the teacher?

  21. Lisbeth Says:

    Melissa. Big words.
Much work is ahead of you.
    A challenge. Mmm. Yes.

  22. Nathan Says:

    Stomach bug I have
    Pump septic early we must
    I’m fine with rowing

  23. Greg Says:

I’ve got nothing to add nor a haiku. I would have to actually google haiku to create one.

  24. Lisbeth Says:

    Greg is no poet
    Nate most assuredly is
    Who else has talent?

  25. Pamela Says:

    Thank you for the vids
    Power comes from leg drive!
    Learn to love the erg

  26. Pamela Says:

    Second line was six!
    seven is the correct way
    next time I count twice

  27. Lisbeth Says:

    Sue is polite.
    Textbook says four is okay
    Before, After.

  28. K Says:

OMG! I love you guys! lol

  29. beery Says:

    Poetry I like.
    Rowing is totally fun.
    I don’t understand how haiku’s work.

  30. beery Says:
