Only Some Things Matter

studrichI don’t care about your politics. I don’t care about who you voted for, why you did so, or what you think about Senator Kennedy’s life or death.

I don’t care about your sexuality, your car, or your bank account. These things don’t really matter to me.

What do I care about? Your heart and your mind. In CrossFit Watertown and outside of it.

I care that your heart is good and that your mind is open. I care that your heart is strong and that your mind is strong. I’m not talking about high intelligence here. If you’ve got that, more power to you — but what I’m talking about is a strong mind, one that can take you through the pain of life and of CrossFit and bring you back home again. I want you mentally tough. It will serve you well inside the gym and outside of it. Be strong. Don’t let this world eat you alive. Fight back.

I care that you’re honest. That you tell the truth. That you don’t cheat your reps and don’t short your motions. I care that if no one is watching and your wall-ball misses the target, that you don’t count it. It wouldn’t be right.

I care that you’re kind. That you’re polite to your gym mates, that you’re caring with your partner, and that you never leave your dog’s water bowl empty.

I care that you leave your ego at the door when you come to CrossFit. That you learn to care more about working towards who you could become than staying who you are. One of those things matters a lot. The other doesn’t mean much here.

Step through the doors of CrossFit Watertown and we’re all the same. The WOD is our common language. Leave all that other bullsh** at the door.

    Dan, I’m waiting on one more picture from a lady that is only here really early in the AM and I missed her the other day. So Janice if your out there, come by for your picture or I can stop by your house today and take it….but I fear if I do that you’re going to start giving me shots of tequila…then I’ll be to busy doing burpees in the street to announce the winnner of the LOC! Ah, ok I’ll be right over! Coffee and tequila?

    Got to try this one…
    1/2 frozen banana
    1/2 cup frozen blueberries
    1/2 scoop Jay Robb protein powder
    2 teaspoons almond butter
    fill with Rice Milk, blend

    Mike #3 — you’re right — and the funny thing is that we’re about to switch to a new theme. It’s all selected and we just need to decide what to put where and then let Nate do his magic. (Nate is the mastermind behind all the cool looking stuff. I’m just the wordsmith. Thanks, Nate!)
