CFW Daily

derekchrisIron. Steel. Rings. A hard workout on a gorgeous summer day.

There is beauty in simplicity. And honor in unrestrained effort. But life is never easy. Failure will happen. Let it come. Learn from it. Grow. Adapt. Rise.

On the other side of each day’s journey is a better you. Find that stronger man or woman. Don’t settle for less than who you were really meant to be.

  4. becky Says:

iron. steel. two words that definitely describe the sweaty men in that picture!

  5. Rockstar Says:

Good Morning Peeps have a great day…

  6. Greg Says:

K’s the only one who has a chance in hell to get the first post at that hour.

Becky – you get an honorable mention at 6 am.

  7. Greg Says:

In that picture, I notice those sweet looking white boards in the background. Maybe that’s because I’m a consultant and love to white board or maybe it’s because I’m not much into sweaty men.

In any case, AWESOME job Sue and Shelley! I know you gals spent a lot of your time getting CFW ready for the 101. Now, we just need to fill in some of those blank PR boxes.

  8. Dan Says:

    You love to white board?

Sorry I wasn’t able to post yesterday but the 101 really was great and everyone who helped organize & run the even deserves a big thank you

  9. kirk Says:

True, I need to lift some heavy stuff to fill out my PR’s on the white board. And, I also want to give a shout-out to Sue and Shelly for all their work on that board and everything else. The gym is looking great!

  10. jen Says:

Hey all! Let’s hear what’s up with our Lean out challenge!! How are you doing? Changes?

  11. Jill Says:

Does anyone have any contacts with a american legion, polish club, german cluc, etc? I need to find a place to rent

  12. Lisbeth Says:

Thanks to Sue and Shelly in a major way! And to N8 for the window cleaning too! And maybe I can find some other sentences to end with exclamation points!

  13. sueloz Says:

Lis…Your words today couldn’t be more timely…grow, adapt, rise…find that stronger woman…you have a special talent for saying what we need to be reminded of every once and awhile.

And if we’re throwing out thank yous…let’s not forget Nate and Erin who put in time washing those nasty windows, Rich who hauled chairs, Becky our parking Goddess, Jackie and Dan who hosted kick ass parties, Viv and Chris, and Lis, and Jen who organized the shit out of that 101…and everyone else who pitched in in ways both large and small…it’s the whole community… that’s what makes CFW rock. (Sorry, I’m gettin’ all Hallmarky on ya’, but its true.)

Now let’s get some PR’s up on that dang whiteboard!

  14. jen Says:

Jill, What do you need the space for? I know this Crossfit Box called Crossfit Watertown it might work!

  15. Jill Says:

I need a space for a fundraiser/silent auction dinner on Friday, Oct 16th. Probably for only 35-45 people, most likely open bar. I refuse to do it campus & it makes more sense for me to do it up in the Waterbury area, which is more centrally located than Danbury, since its for the swimmers parents, alumni & friends

  16. Lisbeth Says:

Sue — thanks for that list of thanks! You are totally right — so many folks had so many key roles. Thank you all.

Oh — and there is great fun awaiting all of you for the variation FGB today. Right, Greg?

  17. jen Says:

We could host it here all you have to do is get chairs.

  18. jen Says:

    BTW….Shelly you rule! whooot!

  19. Greg Says:

Oh yes.. FGB this morning was fun. Of course, I wasn’t the one doing it… just yelling at (I mean encouraging) the 6 am folks.
I plan on coming to the 5 pm today to take my FGB medicine.

  20. Lisbeth Says:

Ah, Greg. I look forward to using “verbal encouragement” with you tonight at the 5pm. Today is supposed to be my rest day but I certainly am tempted to jump into the 6pm class.

  21. David Says:

Hi Guys, it was filthy 50 at CF Laguna Beach this morning. We are off to do touristy crap and if I had a camera person, some guerrilla burpees or walking lunges or something fun, oh wait, I already did those this morning. Back to cream puffs and bon bons.
@Lis – Loved today’s post. There is no failure, only feedback. It is amazing how much further I’ve been able to push myself and grow just by showing up and not listening to my brain that says stop, this is hard, you’re to old, you’re too what ever.
@Jen, as far as the lean out “challenge”, I can say that I feel better than I’ve felt in a long time. I’ve been pretty good about no flour and sugar, but not totally freaking out if I get a piece of fish with some kind of sauce on it that may have trace amounts of sugar. I can’t give myself a “paleo” percentage, but I think I’ve been pretty strict over these past 5 weeks. The scale hasn’t moved much, but the clothes definitely are fitting looser. My WOD’s are better because I’m getting closer to as rx’d and not scaling as much. I know that I am on a journey and I am working on positive changes rather than, I just sucked it up for 6 weeks and can go back to the crap that made me feel less than my best. I did email you my food log. Cheers!

  22. jen Says:

David, yes I got it and have read it over feedback to follow

  23. Lisbeth Says:

That’s the attitude, David! Rock on!

  24. Shelley Says:

Thanks right back to all of you great CFW peeps!. The 101 was a blast and I had a great time hanging out with you all and learning what crazy people live and breathe Crossfit. Keep your fingers crossed that I can move to CT soon and maybe get my name up on that white board. Big thanks to Sue for letting me sip the cool-aid.

  25. Nathan Says:

    Do it Shelley!

  26. jen Says:

    Do it shelly!

  27. Kirk Says:

    Shelly, move to CT…1-2-3-GO!!!!!

  28. Kirk Says:

I guess that was supposed to be 3-2-1 GO, but you got the point.

  29. Lisbeth Says:

All the best people move (or move back) to CT . . .

  30. Shelley Says:

The people have spoken…… I must move.
    Sue get the room ready!
