Gettin’ Serious for Summer?

CFW Daily

natederekbwSchool ends today. Summer living is supposed to be light and easy, right? Or maybe you decide to throw “light and easy” out the flippin’ window and instead do something real about your body — and your life. Maybe this is the summer you decide to work a little harder in the beautiful weather. Maybe this is the summer you push away the pasta and the grains and get serious about fueling your body in a manner it needs, not in a manner that makes you fat.

Maybe this is the summer that you learn how to really give everything you got on that run, on that clean and jerk, on that bike ride — and then give some more. Maybe this is the summer that you get the body you always wanted. Maybe this is the summer that you get the life you always wanted.

Don’t wait for tomorrow. Don’t wait for fall. Don’t puss out. Take the hard road and make it work for you. Start right now. Today. School’s out. But CrossFit is in session.

Yes!!!! Those are the words of our imfamous Lis Darsh! She makes you want to step it up and push a little harder. My goals for the summer:
    chest to deck push ups
    one freakin’ pullup
quit the diet pepsi and zone bars (they only get you so far on the diet train)
and of course, train for that mother f’in TRIATHALON!!!
Can you tell I’m psyched that school’s out?

  2. Lady V Says:

I want the bod I’ve never had….ripped…jen I need to get my “diet” in check!!! Hook it up!!!

  3. kirk Says:

YES people…time to get ripped!!! Sue, I’m looking forward to seeing you reach all those goals. They are right around the corner.

  4. Eric Says:

BFast- 4 eggs, two sausage links, leftover spinach, 1qt whole milk
Does anybody want to come play watermelon at the power barn this saturday. it’s a really cool lower westchester kids game

  5. migs Says:

Eric, I would love to play but I’m working until noon on Saturday. If you want to play after noon, I’m in.

B-Fast: two slices of multigrain toast w/almond butter.

  6. kirk Says:

Eric, I’ve been wondering about drinking whole milk. Has it helped you gain good weight? I need to do the same because I lost weight after some long periods of not working out because of my job/injury. Thanks!

  7. Chris Says:

I need to cross some things off my list this summer as well:

    Muscle-ups
    Better Handstands
    Better Oly Lifting

  8. Power Barn Says:

You need to cross this off your summer list.

    1) Come to the Power Barn this Saturday
    2) Do some DLs or Tire Flips
    3) Do some version of Murph (anything from a full Murph w/ a weighted vest to a 1/4 Murph)
    4) Play Watermelon

We’ll be getting it going at 0800 ….

  9. Eric Says:

Kirk – I feel as though I’ve gained some good weight. I’m up to 205, about 10 pounds in 2 weeks. My bf is still around 8-10% so I think it works. Granted all I do is Olympic Lifting so this could cause a different reaction than CF but so far it has worked for me. Sorry about the injury

  10. Eric Says:

    make that 3 weeks

  11. Jill Says:

I can’t wait to get back to CFW!! I’m doing what I can done here though its just not the same. My goal list is way too long to post. As soon as I’m back its on like donkey kong!!!

  12. Dan Says:

ok i’ll bite…whats this watermelon game?

I guess my list is pretty similar to Chris

  13. Lisbeth Says:

What is the Watermelon Game? We played the Pie Game as kids here in Watertown. In fact, now that I think about it, we should play that in some odd form of CrossFit way, as a warm-up maybe. Hmmm.

  14. Lisbeth Says:

Oh — and ANNOUNCMENT! Starting next week, we’ll be having an 0830 class on Tues and Thursday mornings!

  15. kirk Says:

My goal: Get stronger, especially my core, TO AVOID BACK INJURIES!!!!!!!!

  16. Eric Says:

Dan- Watermelon is a great game that is better experienced than being told how to play. anyway it involves a kickball that you hit at a wall and getting people out. if you can, come to the pb on saturday and we’ll show you

    Summer goals:

    315# C+J

  20. Lisbeth Says:

Um, don’t bother with that link. It makes no sense.

    Jen?

  21. Chris Says:

@Greg – Your goals were much funnier when I thought it said TAnner, not TOOner.

  22. Greg Says:

Another goal to add to the summer list…

    Make this!

  23. Rockstar Says:

Hey peeps? Greg u crack me up…My goal is to fit into my skinny jeans…

  24. Jen Says:

    “Go streak’n down Main Street”

Meet me at the Meat Center on Sat night around 8pm!

  25. migs Says:

Lunch: Whole roasted chicken w/ a mixed green salad.

  26. Greg Says:

@Jen.. no way. Your too white and would draw the cops to us too fast. You would be like one of those giant airplane spot lights stores use when for their grand openings. Although we would be able to run pretty f’n fast…. I’ll have to think about this one.

  27. Lisbeth Says:

Greg, this is Watertown, CT. I don’t think there is such a term as “too white” here.

  28. Lisbeth Says:

Oh — and my goal for the summer:
Not to have to bail Jen out of jail.

  29. Dan Says:

i think its important to keep our goals grounded in reality

  30. Greg Says:

since we’re trying to keep our goals grounded.. here are some variations for all you CFW’ers who have handstands on your list.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFoNFD7d0Dw

  31. Lisbeth Says:

    Roger that, Dan.

The Equipment Fund will now be renamed the Get Jen Out of Jail Fund.

  32. Jen Says:

Whoooot! Who’s in for Sat’s “Go streak’n down Main Street” WOD!
Hold yer parts and run like hell! I’ve done this before it’s really not a hard WOD!
Coming to a hood near you!

  33. Jill Says:

Can we make sure Jen doesn’t get arrested at my house while I’m still away??? She’s already called the cops once but do we really know that she wasn’t involved in the front yard brawl?

  34. Eric Brandom Says:

Has anybody had experience with Raw Milk?

  35. Rockstar Says:

Milk makes me gassy so I stay away from it…specially when I’m lifting…

  36. lisbeth Says:

    Gee, thanks for sharing, Jackie.

  37. Rich Says:

LOL Dan, you better try the flying stuff before you try for the 61″ box jump.
    My Goals ?
Still the same (if I can reduce my travel, customers stop breaking my machines!!!)
    Better Squats in all lifts
    Stronger core
    MMMUUUP’s
@Jen, I hope you mean “hold yer pants UP” unless you’re in front of me!!!

  38. Nathan Says:

Eric – I have been rocking the raw milk on and off here and there. It is F-in good, and they say good for you. Granted it is clean, fresh and safe :)

I trek to Durham to Deerfield Farms to get it – sometimes they have it in-stock at Its Only Natural in Middletown as well.

They also make some darn delicious yogurt.

    Mmmmmm….

  39. Jen Says:

I was talking about my parts…boobs!
