boysbenchChris and Derek bench while Rich and Barry spot them. Yes, we bench. There’s this myth out there that CrossFitters don’t bench. It’s only partly true. Injured CrossFitters don’t bench. Ignorant CrossFitters don’t bench. But other than that, if you want to increase your Shoulder Press, then you need to bench. And you know what? It’s fun too. It feels good. So throw that stupid “We don’t bench” posturing out the window and get down with Mr. Bench. Just do it the right way, like Coach Rip taught you if you were listening. Your pecs and shoulders will thank you for it.

In other news, we’re now taking sign-ups for CrossFit 101: A Talk by Coach Greg Glassman (CrossFit Founder) here at CrossFit Watertown on July 25th. The event will run from 8am-3pm, and includes a workout at the end of the day. And it’s FREE. Just send an e-mail with your name, e-mail, and phone number to crossfit101@crossfitwatertown.com.     my breakfast: 2 fried eggs (soft yolk), 1 peice of toast, 1/2 avacado, 1 large spicy chicken sausage & cup of expresso

    I’m probably going to start snacking on some almond butter & carrots shortly

    B-fast: same as yesterday. Hb eggs (no yoke), strawberries and almond butter.

    Bench press fo sho. Hell, I think we can get away with a 5×5 of calf raises if its followed up with a mini-metcon anything like last nights ;) !

    Last night’s Mini-Metcon was delicious! Refreshing! I just posted the photo (pre-6pm class data) for anybody who’s interested in reliving that exquisite experience!

    B-fast: water, daily multi-day vitamin, fish oil vitamin.

    I got a food scale and am going to start to weigh my food to get an idea of amounts. However, I’m totally convinced I’m commited to going 100% Zone with Paleo.

    Jennifer – I’ll get with you for anything I might be able to help with for the visit. Thought… Maybe you can get Steve to bring his Tuba to play Hail to the Chief every time Greg enters the room. These are the sort of contributions you can expect from me.

    Greg, so you’re still fasting in the morning? You’re a better man than I am. I’d fall asleep at the wheel if I didn’t eat and have coffee. Not only do I need to improve my diet (again) I need to start working out again. The back is feeling better, but still not there yet.

    Lunch- 1lb turket breast + salad with almonds and apple dressed with oli-oil and lemon juice. 1qt whole milk. The ladies in the cube next door have chocolates

    Dinner last night- Two chicken legs/spinach/ avocado
    Dark chocolate with some Almond butter on it.
    B-fast
    Two eggs/3 strips of Bacon/ coffee with cream.
    Will fast wend for 12 hours.

    Yeap still doing the fasting from about 8 pm until 1 or 2 pm the next day. I’ll have a coffee in the morning usually and maybe a breakfast or brunch on the weekends. My energy levels for the 6 am WODs can be a challenge at times. However even if I did eat breakfast in the morning it wouldn’t be before 6 am.

    Anyways, lunch: Roasted chicken breast topped w/raw shrooms. Side of broccoli. Side salad of green/red peppers, cucumber, raw shrooms, olives and radishes.

    Need to get some fat in tonight.

    Before I go into the food log, I think Jackie brings up a good point. We should blog about the # and weight of movements, maybe even the color…
    Today’s Food:
    Breakfast: 1 med coffee, ~5oz deli turkey, ~1/2 cup guacamole (really just mashed avocados), 1 pear, Medium coffee, 1 liter of water
    Lunch: Salad with: Mixed Greens, Spinach, Mushrooms, Cucumbers, Broccoli, Chicken Breast, Olives, Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, 1 Liter of water
    Snack: Large handful of almonds, Red pepper
    Dinner: Chicken Breast, Avocado, handful of cherry tomatoes, dash of onions, dash of sirachi hot sauce, handful of steamed asparagus stalks

    Dinner- Salmon with sauteed spinach and mushrooms and side salad. half gallon whole milk. spoonful of dark chocolate ice cream
