CFW Daily

jenhsinbostonSo, we’re back from the CrossFit Nutrition Certification and we learned all sorts of information to make you healthier and look damn good too. If you don’t know about Robb Wolf (the CrossFit Food King) then check out his website. We’ll be talking about this stuff all week after class, so put your listening ears on.

Schedule Alert: No CFT today. Too many people had problems with the date. Let’s plan it for Friday instead. (Don’t worry, we’ve planned the week’s workouts carefully so you’re not all worn out before the CFT on Friday.)

Finally, how much sleep do you get a night? Really? Tell the truth. We want to know. It’s more important to your health and your weight than you realize.

Sleep? Probably 4-6 hours at best a night.

CFT Friday? Fudge, freakin fridays fooey for me! :(

And a forewarning, according to what I hear on Facebook: the nutrition cert has something against the beer.

    See you tonight!

  2. Mike Says:

    x2 ….4-6hrs….

  3. Lisbeth Says:

Okay, this is my last and final offer: Thursday for CFT — we have two classes — 5 and 6, so that probably works better for getting everybody in here anyhow.

    Any takers or objectors?

  4. migs Says:

I have problems staying asleep. I may lay down in bed for eight hours but I’m definitely not sleeping for eight. I never feel rested.

I hear that grains are ok to eat as long as they are soaked or fermented first. Beers in!

  5. Jen Says:

Migs, a must read “Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar, and Survival”
    By: T. S. Wiley
    I think it’s like $10 on line.

Read this before you buy the book http://robbwolf.com/?p=55

  7. Tooner Says:

I get 6 hrs of interupted sleep. My little guys are good for at least 1 glass of water or potty request in the middle of the night.

I’m out for Thursday CFT and will conclude my 2 week rest / traveling when I get back late Thurs night. CFT on Friday should be an interesting experiment.

Tooner signing off from DFW gate D29.

  8. Chris Says:

I would be in for a CFT Friday, but if it has to be Thursday, I guess that’s ok too.

I average about 7-8 hours of sleep per night.

  9. Cooksana Says:

Cooksana signing in after finishing my first Carolina Crossgit wod…nothing like running in 90 degrees at 10 am. Brutal!

I get between 7-8 hrs but its never straight thru

  10. Chris Says:

Come to think of it, I’m not even going to be shooting for anywhere near a CFT PR since this will probably be my first attempt at lifting heavy since I got injured, so whatever day works for most people is good for me.

  16. Sue Says:

Funny- Shelley and I were just talking about how getting good quality sleep leads to better weight loss…Right Shelley? As for me, I can’t function without 7 or 8 hours…I don’t know how people live on 4 or 5 a night…props to you. Nate, see you later??

  17. Chris Says:

@Sue- Oh, absolutely. People seriously underestimate the importance of sleep, especially when it comes to weight loss.

  18. Lisbeth Says:

Thursday is in the lead . . .

  19. Jen Says:

    Sleep…yummy

  20. Shelley Says:

Gotta love Sleep. I try to get at least 7 hours if possible. Used to get 4, then I read about all the hormones including HGH that gets released while you sleep and it convinced me that I have to make time for it. Having a GREAT bed also helps!

  21. Nathan Says:

@Sue – Yup, see you tonight! My often lonely Monday night workout won’t be as lonely tonight!

We can talk about how awesome the Hold Steady were and how I need a haircut and the tyranny of the two-party system and Branjelino and our favorite colors…

We are going to have so much fun tonight!! Srsly. 4 realz yo!

  25. Dan Says:

I probably get about 5-6 per night…and I do gymnastic moves while sleeping

  26. Lisbeth Says:

Tracey — I can’t be there at 2pm on Wed (boys dr. appt.) but I wonder if Jen can make that . . . Jen?

  29. kirk Says:

Not sure who gets less sleep, Melissa or me? She’s usually in bed first, but also up first. I may get a little more, and it might even be 7 hours most nights because we are losers and go to bed really early.
