Curious George’s Indifference to Pain

CFW Daily

curiousnomercyThat Curious George is one mean mofo. No matter what kind of pain he sees on Jenny’s face during the 6am WOD, he keeps smiling. (Tracey just ignores his taunting.)

In other news, we’re leaving (on a jet plane) for sunny Austin, TX to help run (and speak at)  FilFest 09 (the annual CrossFit Affiliate Get Together).  Melissa and Kirk have the helm until Monday night.

Schedule reminder: No 5 pm class tonight. But everybody at the 6 pm will have double the fun! How could you not? Just look at Jenny’s face!

Nice! That’s not my best side you know…have fun at FilFest and watch out for the lines at the Porta Pottie I hear they can get rough!

  3. Jen L *&^% Says:

Oops caught by the double post ghost.

  4. Dan Says:

Jen must be self medicating and double posting…

Yeah Curious George can be rather condescending sitting up there on his high pole mocking / smiling at the poor victims on the pullup bar

thats the real reason I use the higher pullup bar

And I heard about the return of Nate but I think we’re still waiting for him to return to the blog

  5. sueloz Says:

I had to look at a close up of the pic and I could make out Tabata… dum, dum, dum…
In other news…I can vouch for the fact that Nate is indeed back! Maybe we’ll see him tonight???

  6. Greg Says:

I only do the evenings now a couple of times during the week. I don’t know if it’s better or worse to know the WOD that is in store. However in this case, I know I better do some callus maintenance before tonight.

  7. Rich Says:

Lookin good you am-er’s Sorry I missed Tues. BS. hope you all killed it!!! Need to miss tonight also. We should be back on schedule Thur. and maybe a double on Fri.
Post your loads from Back squats!!!

  8. Greg Says:

    @Rich – 235 lbs in the BS

  9. Kirk Says:

Don’t worry Lis, I’ll bring LOTS of pain tonight and I have a feeling it’s going to be a packed house. I’m looking forward to this!!! hahahahaha.
@Rich. Rough Tuesday morning for me. I ended up at 175 and I didn’t go down far enough on a few of them. Back squats have officially replaced dead lifts on my suckage list.

  10. lisbeth Says:

    You’re a good man, Kirk.

  11. sueloz Says:

I got 2 at 145 and then bailed…I have to thank Melissa though, for the feedback on form…I’m trying really hard to work on techique and the feedback is invaluable. You rock, coach!

  12. Chris Says:

    @Rich – 160/170/180/190/200(dumped at #4)

  13. Rich Says:

@ Kirk, what are the Tabata’s tonight. I can do them at home!!!
Thanks all for the feed back on BS’s. I’ll do those Fri am if it’s OK with the trainer

  14. Dan Says:

    Nice Chris & Sue!

I ended up doing 135 / 155 / 165 / 175 / 185 , I probably could of gotten 190 and need to give it a go again once my legs learn not to wobble when i walk…I did try doing a 7 x 3 rep scheme last week and went for 200 on my last set and had to dump it after 2

I’m with Kirk on the back squat suckage, only back squats have been on my suckage list for quiet some time now

  15. kirk Says:

@Rich. No Friday AM class, there is only a 5 pm that day. You might have to come on Saturday morning??!! I don’t know what the workout is tonight, I’ll find out when I look at the board in a few hours. I’m sure it’ll be a fun time.

  16. Chris Says:

I still prefer front squats WAY more than back squats. I find them to be a whole lot easier. My FS and BS one-rep max numbers are unusually close, though we haven’t really done BS 1′s in a while.

  17. James H. Says:

I love that you call Curious G. a “mofo”. Meanwhile, I miss the “safe” and the giant poster of the Boss, and everything else about Crossfit Funtown.

  18. Tracey Says:

    Rich… Today’s tabata was squats, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups and row.. and…. My body is STILL tired….

  19. David Kirk Says:

I’ve did the squat at home. I put the bar a bit lower on the back a la Starting Strength. It definitely felt different. My numbers were 225/245/245/245/250. I would have shot for more but, I only have 250lbs. I do have some dumbells I could have duct taped to the bar, but didn’t think that was safe to get another 5 – 10 lbs. Also, I’m not really in a place where I can dump a failed attempt, so that is a limiter too–no failed attempts.
I’m sad to miss the Tabata fun tonight. I’m off to the 4th grad science fair.

  20. Rich Says:

Thanks “T” I’m Going to save that one for Fri morning at home. We will see you all thur 5pm.

  21. Greg Says:

Curious George that punk.. I think I heard him laughing at me too tonight when I was doing my pull-ups during Tabata. He’s going to be real curious when I stick my foot up his… ok deep breaths…

  22. Lisbeth Says:

Um, Greg, he’s not real. In fact, he’s a puppet, okay?

    Anyhow . . .

James! Come back anytime! Even if you do have to bring Donna. I know how that is.

  23. Greg Says:

What! He’s not real? A puppet? OK.. then I’ll just stick my hand up his… oh forget it.
