Sneak peek into what will be the new CrossFit Watertown space. What do you envision here? Where are the lifting platforms? What colors are the walls? What does the pull-up bar structure look like?
So many questions and so many things to be decided. There’s almost 4,ooo sf of space to consider.
We have a vision. But we’d like to hear yours. It’s not just our place. It’s yours too. That’s the difference between us and everybody else. We’re not here to take your money, we’re here to build a community. So, tell us what that CrossFit community hub looks like.
In other news, three “Overheard at CrossFit Watertown” quotes. Go to Comments to guess who said ‘em:
“The snatch is just like life. Inevitably you’ll end up on your a** a few times.”
“Wall-ball does not taste good. Trust me on this.”
“I don’t wear these lace panties for nothing.”

Quote 1: Jackson
Quote 2: Wall-ball food critic
Quote 3: Rich
I was planning on coming to tonight’s workout, but a change of plans has scrapped that idea. I will attempt to venture in tomorrow morning.
Can we take a field trip over to the new place soon to look around?
January 16th, 2009 at 11:44 am
Wrong on all counts!
But yes on the field trip!
January 16th, 2009 at 11:48 am
It was Barry’s Lace panties comment…right? I could have swore I saw some pink frills peaking out from his shorts on front squat night.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
LOL @ Jackson & Rich – #2 has my sympathy…i know that taste all to well
The new space looks awesome!!
In other news: I hate to say it but I’m finally going to be moving down to the NY / Westchester Area (feb 1st at the earliest or march 1 ideally). I’ll still vist often and see everyone…and I’ve already started looking into how to get to the closest cf gym via train since im not going to be able to bring my home gym
January 16th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Oh my God Dan – that is sad news. You will be missed!
I want to go on a field trip to the new box – I will get Ray Ray to sign my permission slip ASAP.
#1 is Sue or Lis ~ it has an English teacher vibe to it
#2 is Greg – His new diet must have left him so hungry that he started eating the wall balls
#3 is definitely Barry – I thin he borrowed mine – they went into the laundry and they have been missing ever since!
January 16th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
I still like the idea of the only way in being a rope climb from street level.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
@Dan: We knew the day was coming, still it’s sad for us, but good for you! Go get ‘em, Dan! Set Westhester right with those killer squats!
January 16th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
@Becky: Quit lying about Barry and your pink underwear. It could not have happened. Everyone knows you don’t wear any.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
@Dan, No Way!!! We will miss you.
@Chris, Who told you, Jill?
#1 Coach Burgener
#2 Chris
#3 Could be me but I think Barry.
Can’t wait to see the new digs
@Lis If I don’t make it tonight can I do todays Main Site WOD @ Sat. am?
January 16th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Thanks guys! I’m sure I won’t be able to stay away for to long
@ Rich, todays mainsite WOD looks like Greg & Lauren were just mad, it makes fran look like a warm-up
January 16th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Dan, it does look intriguing though.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I’m too scared to do it alone. I’ll be in Kirk’s 6pm class tonight, crying like a baby.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
If Lis is scared, how should the rest of us feel?
January 16th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Aww… sorry to hear it Dan… gre p in the yonkers/westchester/BX area… sorry you gotta go there lol Gonna miss our OHS’s together….
In other sad news- I’m here to confess my bacon sins…. I ate a strip of bacon today- 7 days no sugar, just to be called over to the dark side by nitrate free yummyness……
January 16th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
I’m thinking this might not be the best day to “rejoin” the crossfit world with that workout & Lis being all scared!!
k – Bacon sins?? tsk tsk!
January 16th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
@Dan- Congrats to you on the move. We’re gonna miss you, buddy! Don’t be a stranger!
If eating bacon is supposedly a “sin,” then I might as well book my one-way, first-class ticket to the 9th circle of hell.
January 16th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
lol.. it’s not the yummy bacon itself… It’s the sugar on the bacon
P.S.- Chris I totally booked a group fare there for all of CFWatertown months ago lol
January 16th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Bacon? Sin? Paleo says yum. Really it’s the sodium that will most likely punch your ticket to dark & hot.
January 16th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
We’re going to hell?!! Is this another field trip? Do I need a permission slip? I LOVE field trips!
Rich — if you’re sick, the best thing you can do is stay home and rest. Really. Best for you and best for us. Take tomorrow off too if you need it. Recover.
January 16th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Looking forward to tonight’s work-out (did I just say that..?)… see you at 6pm
January 16th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Wow, heck of a workout today. I’ll wrestle with it at 5:00. Jackson will be with me, so if he starts to fuss, I might have to cut it short….wouldn’t that be a shame?? Seeing as this workout is a LONG one, I hope he behaves. If I die during the workout, Melis will take the 6:00 for me.
January 16th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
@ Dan. I think your boss should pack up and move the company to Central CT. It’s nice here. Sorry to hear you’re leaving, be sure to check in on us from time to time. You’ll have to come as much as possible until the move to get your fill of CFW!!!
January 16th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
K – I like the idea of putting sugar on bacon….
Rest night for me and Barry tonight – I will see everyone tomorrow AM
January 16th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
What a shame. Because this is definitely a workout that Beery could have a beer after.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
I better come to the 5 pm class so I’ll be done by 7!
January 16th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
there’s going to be beer!?!? I might reconsider but I should give my back a day off since it started feeling better today. I’ll mosey in tomorrow if I can rip my self out of bed.

que!?
January 16th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Beery LMAO… that pic actually caused me to puke
January 16th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
@dan, so sad, if you are near montclair check out guerilla fitness, greg’s a nice guy. not as tuff as darsh, but you may be able to get him to yell at you.
January 16th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
@Kirk, Did ya do it? How was it? I have to try this one.
How about Greg, Chris, Lis?
Someone talk to me.
January 16th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Barry,
I’m just checking in with you to make sure you’ve recovered from that experience we had last week?
it will never happen again, really it wont!
jen
January 16th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
Jen – Barry has been waking up in the middle of the night yelling “No I won’t back my behind into you” and “Don’t touch me there”. He then cries in the corner and hugs his blankie – I’m not so sure what it is all about…
January 16th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
i think showers and mirrors would be nice…..
January 16th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Becky,
It will get better give him time the memories will fade.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
@Rich – Yeap. It was a killer. Especially when you sub supermans for back extensions and you double the count. So, the last round was not 50 but 100. I did 65lbs for the thrusters which racked up quick. I think I finished under 20 mins. Lis, Kirk, and Sue were getting ready to do it as I was leaving.
I have a bonus “Overheard at CrossFit Watertown” that was from tonight… Who was this directed to?
“Do you always complain this much or just tonight?”
January 16th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Matt — we’re getting a shower! Whoo hoo! (But Power Barners should still feel free to use the hose out back. Or the overflow from the dam. Think of it as the redneck shower massage.)
Rich — the WOD was pure evil. Sue and I LOVED it! We even had Nate’s buddy Duffy make a guest appearance. I was really, really nice to him.
I did the women’s weight as RX (65lbs — so did Sue!) but blew it on the pull-ups — got the first 25 RX but started to kill my metcon pace with resting so I converted to jumpers for 25, then did 35 jumpers in the middle, and returned to real pull-ups for 20 at the end. (Whoops, just realized I made us all do an extra 5 pull-ups in the middle. Haha!)
Next time, totally as RX.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
And don’t listen to Beanie Squat, who is now also known as Darlene.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
That’s Mr. Darlene #2 to you!
January 16th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
You know, I heard Sue say to Tracey tonight, “Put some weight on that bar or call yourself Darlene and hang your head in shame.”
Or maybe that was me.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
Poor Darlene. It’s her week for tough love.
January 16th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
@Greg, weren’t me. I’d go to Battle with you anytime. Good job thanks for the update.
Darla Squat? I like it.
January 16th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
@ Lis, does Darlene even read the blog?
@ Rich, the workout was transmorgaphying. I too did the girl weight of 65 lbs, didn’t even think of trying the pull ups without some jumping assistance. I did start out with the Glute Ham Torquemada device for sit ups and extensions. When I got to the 50s, I thought, lets switch to Abmat and supermans. The Abmat was a good sub, but the superman’s sucked so I went back to Senior Torquemada for the final 30 back extensions.
@CFW Community – thank you for being there.
@ Dan – sad to see you split from Woodbury, but I bet I could get a group of us to meet you at the Starbucks at exit 2 for 100 burpees for time with an Americano chaser.
@Beery – this was truly a WOD that was benefited with a beer chaser.
January 17th, 2009 at 12:25 am
I’ve been trying to goad Darlene into reading and commenting on the blog. Here’s hoping this will flush her out of hiding!
January 17th, 2009 at 12:31 am
darlene…darlene…come out, come out where ever you are…olly olly oxen free….
January 17th, 2009 at 12:44 am
The pull ups were brutal because I can’t KIP!!! Someone… Please HELP!!! I definitely could have done more weight on the thrusters too….. I love this!! Crossfit is… Unbelievable!!
Thank you!!
January 17th, 2009 at 8:12 am
Yahooo Tracey! You’ve tasted the Kool-Aide. You and I both need to work on KIP… Maybe something to work on at the 6 am.
January 17th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Whoot Whoot Tracey! I had tears of happiness in my eyes while reading your post. Congrats on finding the CF passion! Your life will never be the same.
January 17th, 2009 at 10:28 am
donna… to paraphrase a wise quote…. this is something that I have been looking for my whole life…
Greg… I plan on working on them for 10-15 minutes after every WOD if I can…. Would love to have a partner in crime..
