CFW Daily

returntohatsThe 6am class apparently found strength in their headgear this morning as they worked their hang power cleans.

(And your eyes are not fooling you! Welcome back to both Jenny and Janice! Oh, and good morning to Greg!)

Lots of ice this morning, so schools were delayed (yet CFW went on, unfettered) but apparently the Watertown School System needs to go back to class, as this was the message on their website: Due to potentially isy road conditions, the Watertown Public Schools have a 90 minute delayed opening on Monday, January 5, 2009.

Oy vey.

In other news, take a read through No Sugar For 30 Days. Think you can do it? Who wants to try?

P.S. Check out yesterday’s comments for the inside track on the Nutrition Talk with EC. She posted a whole bunch more info there.

    Hey Lis,
Happy New Year! I’m in on the kick the sugar fix, great link! Was/am starting Atkins today ( i know it isn’t the best, but for the first few weeks, it should get me through the tough times!) Hopefully switch to Zone/Paleo……would love to attend the talk on Saturday….do you have any slots open?
    Let me know,
    Matt

  2. Lisbeth Says:

Matt- you are always welcome at CFW! I’ll put on the list for EC’s talk. And we look forward to seeing you on Sat. (Be prepared for a couple hours on nutrition and a WOD afterward!)

  3. Dan Says:

Welcome back Janice & Jenny and Gregg is always there but at 6:00 am, wow – I might have to try joining you guys and come into work a little late a couple days

Lis I might be working this Sat, hopefully I’ll have a better idea of whats happening by the end of today – how long do you think it will run? And I can I send you a paypal for it?

I think im finally getting over this cold and looking forward to catching up on some deads tonight

And is there any news if the wends night at 7:00 is going to continue into the new year?

  4. Lisbeth Says:

If we get 4 people committed to the Wed at 7pm, we’ll run it.

    Any other takers out there?

(And we’re doing cash for the seminar — just easier. But if you say you’re going, I’ll trust you for it, Dan! But nobody else, because they all look shifty to me. Oops, did I say that out loud?)

Seminar will last almost 2 hours, optional barbellish WOD afterward.

  5. Greg Says:

As I sip… make that gulp down my coffee (fully loaded, extra sugar) and chase it with my extra sweet Tang (I always wanted to be an astronaut). I’m in on the no sugar for 30 days. It pains me to even write that. My plan will be to start after EC’s talk when I’m all fired up about eating better.

For all of you doing the WOD tonight, think heavy thoughts.

  6. Nathan Says:

Welcome back Janice and Jenny!! Tonight might just host another hat wearing return….

  7. Lisbeth Says:

    Ooooh, is Jill coming back?

(Oh, wait, could that be Nate?)

  8. Lisbeth Says:

Additional names to the “Where Are They?” list:

    Jackie #1
    Jackie #2
    Caitlin
    Kathrine

    Who else am I missing?

  9. Dan Says:

    what about fire fighter guy?

  10. Chris Says:

I hate to miss a Monday WOD, but I’ve got class tonight. I’ll be back to claim my sunglasses on Tuesday.

  11. Lisbeth Says:

@Dan, I’m only counting the folks who had the guts to make it through Fundamentals.

So, the fireman is out, so too the trainer with the shortened range of motion push-ups.

  12. Dan Says:

    ouch – burn……

and EC posted in our comments!?! very cool, slighting intimidating but very cool

  13. sueloz Says:

Count me in for the Saturday workshop…I’ll see y’all on Tuesday…

  14. Kirk Says:

What’s the deal with Roller Derby girl? We thought she’d be all about CrossFit. Looking forward to tonight’s workout and I think I’m in for some 6 AM fun on Tuesday.

  15. lisbeth Says:

@Kirk: Good point about Roller Derby! Who knows?

  16. Greg Says:

That’s a lot of nick names. I better keep coming or I might be called out in future comments as: Beanie guy, All squat and no go guy, Asian invasion guy, etc. I can go on forever. Not that anyone has ever called me any of those before.

  17. Rich Says:

Honest, I don’t work in the Watertown School System. Welcome back girls.
No sugar? Works for me , I don’t use it now.
@LIS I’ll pay for (2) Sat. workshop tonight

  18. lisbeth Says:

    Did Beanie Squat say something?

  19. lisbeth Says:

    Or maybe it was Catman?
    (For those box jump landings.)

  20. Janice Says:

How can one live without sugar? Even the soup I had for lunch today had sugar in it. I would try, but would need a list of the ‘yes’ items. Is wine on that list? LOL!

  21. Chris Says:

Hey, can we see some footage of the box jump competition from last week?

  22. Dan Says:

    LOL @ Beanie Squat

@ Chris, I thought there was supposed to be a video of the whole CFT & Box Jumps to be release on sunday night – i’m sure lis must of must of meant next sunday

  23. Greg Says:

    Beanie Squat – Like I said… I better keep coming :-)

  24. Jen L Says:

What no Sugar…Beer is my favorite food group.

  25. Jen Says:

Ok so when does this 30 day no sugar deal start? I want in. It’s just the kick in the pants I need.
    Beer…really…please?

  26. Jen Says:

Somenone has to set the rules for this no sugar deal..Lis?

  27. donna d Says:

when are you going to teach me to pole dance? matt is getting anxious.

  28. Kiwi Matt Says:

Roller Derby and Pole Dancing? Where does Donna sign up?

  29. David Kirk Says:

I thought we agreed to the dietary challenge post EC? As for no sugar, that is a snap. Especially for 30 days. I do need the kick though since we just got back from 10 days in the land of Milk and Honey or should I say Grains and Sugar…Got to love Grandma. Anyway, can’t wait to get back into the gym with y’all.

    Cheers,
    David

  30. Lisbeth Says:

First off, I have no knowledge of pole dancing. All those questions should go to Becky. Or to our new CrossFit pole dancing affiliate applicant. (I am not making this stuff up.)

Second, I’m not certain we can roller derby, but I’m betting we could play a mean game of Red Rover Red Rover, as long as we don’t do it in any CFW official capacity and it’s more than 100 yards from the box. I’m fairly certain these rules apply also for numchucks, hot coals, and knife fights.

Third, 30 days/no sugar should start after the EC talk.

And someone needs to talk to Greg about not being an astronaut.

  31. Greg Says:

What’s wrong with reaching for the stars?

  32. k Says:

I’m here!!! I’m here!! and I can come to most of the W@7pm classes this semester!! AND WELCOME BACK LADIES!!! and I can teach you how to swing around a pole!!!! and I finally got internet again!!!!!! WWHHHOOO HHOOOO!!!!!!

  33. Dan Says:

YES K!!! Thats 2 for the wends @ 7 – I think we can count Sue in and Lis should count herself and join us to make the 4th

  34. sueloz Says:

I’m always in for Wed 7pm class…hope to see you all there!

  35. donna d Says:

thanks lis, i had to explain what red rover red rover was to matt. he had no clue. i am going to burn in hell for corrupting a kiwi. just one of many things….
