So, Becky’s been hitting the WODs with full force again — and has a new plan for increasing upper-body strength (her weakness — like many women) in the New Year.
But still no Kathrine . . . The Cupcake of the Month beckons . . .
In other news, Christmas WOD/Party at 6pm tonight!
Also, the Power Barn has invited us for a WOD/Party on the 26th at 6pm. Let us know if you’d like to go over there and drink their booze and date their women. (Ooh, sorry, we meant do a workout.) (Or date their men. Maybe walk their dogs?)
Plus, we’re talking about a New Year’s Eve CrossFit Total (Barry’s idea)! Who’s in? Sign up in Comments!
And, we’ve got another good one from Jon Gilson of Again Faster: Read Belief.

Powerbarn on the 26th is a maybe for me rightnow – still not sure where im spending christmas
CFT on the 31st is brilliant
ohh ……im calling shenanigans on that post from the other day about cereal – just because john from johnisfit.com has spent the past 40 years of his life grazing on sugar coated cereals does not qualify him to be a dietitian. Regardless his fabulous 4 reason for him not eating cereal are:
1 – He doesn’t stock good cereal
2 – His bad cereal is expensive
3 – Portion sizes are inhuman
4 – Cereal doesn’t fill him up
wow, really?! good one john i think i feel dumber after that one / shenanigan rant
the Jon Glison article from today is much better Lis

Dan, are you actually defending breakfast cereal?
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:23 am
Well I don’t think its the best thing out there but Kashi does make some cereals that are half decent for you and there are also some granola mixes which have a decent amount of protein in them. I just think that not all cereal falls into that sugar coated garbage category.
Also as an FYI to anyone who’s interested, if you goto CrossFit Milford’s page you can sign up for the basic barbell & oly lifting certs. I reserved my spot at the oly one and will do the barbell after all my xmas shoping is done

I love cereal! Even though I prefer Frosted Flakes (Cheryl never let us eat “sugar cereal” growing up) I do have a box of Zone cereal in the cabinet!
Love CFT!

I like Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles because they align well with the Paleo diet. If the Flintstones ate them then they must be Paleo.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:14 pm
So Cookie Crisp is okay right? You know what else is awesome? (sounds gay) Fruity Pebbles.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:16 pm
why did it take me three minutes to type that?
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:23 pm
It took you 3 minutes because you were thinking of every bite of fruity pebbles and how good the milk is after the cereal is gone.
@Dan, I’ll see you at the Oly cert.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Melissa and I will be at the Oly Cert too. (Melissa, did you sign up yet?)
And grains are not a good thing. Go read Robb Wolf. Eat them but know what you’re doing. Or read the Ominivore’s Dilemma and realize why we are a grain-dependent nation.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:59 pm
As Melissa can attest to, I am addicted to cereal and I’ll never give it up….NEVER!!! It’s hard to pick a favorite…maybe cinnamon toast crunch.
I think the Reed’s are in for a CFT on the 31st. Maybe we can get Alex to come, since it’s his favorite workout. See you all tonight! Dan, wish you could come…..I’ll do some OHS’s in your honor.
December 22nd, 2008 at 2:00 pm
I think I’m signed up for the Oly cert, too.
December 22nd, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Dan,
what is a good cereal?
December 22nd, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Ok well I’m trying to get through some of Robb Wolf’s material – nutirion is something I definatley need to work / get a handle on.
I tend to go between different Kashi cereals and Muesli (which I guess isn’t actually cereal but more of an oatmeal with dried fruits) which has a pretty high calroie count.
cliff notes: im probably not getting enough protein and im sure lis & robb wolf know more
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:03 pm
What I think is really funny is that Jen “Queen of Bacon” Conlin just asked you about a good cereal.
Set up.
Shoot.
Shack!
(But you acquitted yourself nicely, Dan. And we still love you, even if you do eat cereal. I eat chocolate. Bad sugar. Baaaaad sugar.)
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Unless your chocolate is 7000% Cacao, picked by Peruvian or Guatemalan natives…
I can’t wait for the Nutrition talk with EC. I have a ton of questions. I’ve read Omnivores Dilemma and In Defense of Food.
As far as breakfast cereal is concerned, it can’t be all bad if Dr. Harvey Kellog introduced it with his enemas, grape diets, advocacy of Fletcherizing, etc (add more sarcasm)
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Now if someone could make a Bacon cereal I would say that’s a good cereal!
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Oh and if your looking for a good chocolate look for Ritters Sport Dark chocolate. 50% cocoa! Whoot! I love a good mix of chocolate and bacon! No really try it…trust me!
Better yet, Beer, chocolate and bacon!
December 22nd, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Beer, chocolate chip cookies, and the Weekly World News.
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
Back to Fletcherizing!
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:12 pm
See everyone tonight!
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:15 pm
