Barry and the bar, near the end of 5 rounds of 5 Deadlifts and 10 Burpees — which he finished, as Rx’d (275lb. Deadlift) in 10:08! And, in warm-ups, he also nailed 3 kipping pull-ups! Barry continues to be the bomb: He’s strong, agile, and he’s just a little bit funny. Is there anything Barry can’t do?
In Barry’s honor: Another Beer Haiku.
Reminder: Friday is the CF Watertown Festivus. Doors open at 5:30pm/WOD at 6pm/Male Dancers at 7pm. (Or these folks. We can’t decide.)
Entry Fee: Suggested $5 donation to Operation Phoenix and a few canned goods for the Food Bank.
Grab Bag: $10
Let’s figure out the Potluck in Comments.

Best. WOD. Ever.
December 16th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Also, are we doing cookout-type grillin’ Friday? If so, I can be on bread duty again.
December 16th, 2008 at 10:57 am
Oh Liz – you’re too kind, but despite popular opinion, I’m very funny.
I would like to point out that Chris was only like 20? lbs. short of Rx and he did it about 3.5 minutes faster than me. That’s pretty insane considering we’re relatively the same weight… to the space shuttle.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:00 am
@Chris – The best WOD ever would be 5 hot dogs / 10 keg stands… only 1 round
December 16th, 2008 at 11:11 am
Its ok Barry, I was doing deads 20 lbs less then Chris and he still finsihed about 2.5 – 3 minutes before me.
whats this moderation queue thing? smells like a communist agenda to me…
December 16th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Moderation queue? I have no idea! Nate!!!
December 16th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Oh wait, I just rescued one of Dan’s posts from the spam filter. That might be it.
And, nobody may have noticed, but I think there are a few things Barry can’t do. He can’t do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANc5PtpoAyM
December 16th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Barry you are amazing…absolutely amazing. So crazy strong…wow.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am
As for food this Friday…I was going to cookup a pot of chili…a hearty, protien friendly meal…
December 16th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Sounds like you guys had fun last night. I tried to do the WOD in my basement. I couldn’t find a stop watch, so I just went through the motions. That picture of Barry summed it up! I would have loved to have been with you guys being able to drop the weight, not set it down gingerly so as not to break the concrete basement floor with my metal plates.
I’d be there tonight, but my excuse du jour is that I have a Christmas Concert to go to at the Elementary school.
I’ll bring Paleo Cookies and some beer for Friday. I saw a recipe online and am dying to try it; hoping it’s edible. Oh, and I’ll bring some Hot Dogs so we can do Barry’s favorite WOD.
Cheers

@Moderation queue: Sometimes even with the akismat antispam plugin, WordPress can’t determine if a post is spam – so it gets queued for moderation. Also, a surefire way to get flagged as spam is by having more than 2 links of any sort in your comment. You can up this number in the admin setup somwhere.
Last nights workout was cripplingly fun!
December 16th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Oh yeah, you can approve the “spammed” comments in there as well….
December 16th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
I also loved that workout last night. I’ll say it again. Let’s call it “Chris” and do it occasionally and see how we progress. Chris is one small step away from rocking it rx’d like Barry! I’m not close to rx’d, but still liked it a lot. See you guys tomorrow.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
I like Barry’s idea for a WOD…crossfit is supposed to be “functional” right?…well keg stands happen to be one of the most functional way to put our handstand pracitce to “real world situations”. Who’s with me?!
December 16th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Melis – you’re right on point! Let’s try that out on Friday?
December 16th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Barry, Barry, Barry, clap, clap clap!
December 16th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Wait — did the nursing mother just call for kegstands?
And Sue stole my chili idea! First, she swears at me in the WOD and now this!
Three examples of anarchy today! Run for your lives!
December 16th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
It was actually 30 pounds from rx’ed. I should’ve added that extra 10 before I started. But I agree that we need to do this one periodically and see how we progress.
December 16th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I second that and agree we should do this one periodically. I rather enjoyed everything except for the burpees and deadlifts… oh wait. OK, really just the burpees. I probably should have had a little more on the bar as well.
See some of you on Wed.
December 16th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Melissa would be killer at kegstands she already has the handstands down!
Hmmm what to bring what to bring…Barry and I will bring cupcakes and fruit salad!
Hope that is okay with you Barry!
December 16th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Wait, what???? We’re going to do this regularly???? You all better invest in some earplugs then….I can not be held responsible for what I say if we ever do this workout again…..
December 16th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Sue, we’re going to do it every day for a week until you love it.
Bwahahahahaha. (Insert evil grin here.)
And, not to single anybody out, but where is Jackie #1??? Nothing in comments/no e-mail = no love. Boo hoo. (Note: Jackie #2 is finishing Fundamentals, so she will soon join classes, but we don’t yet know her mojito-making skills.)
December 16th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I love mojitos
December 16th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Anyone interested in a 6 week nutrition challenge, say, starting 1/1/09? (This would not interfere with Mojitos on Friday).
December 16th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
@David – whats the challenge? im assuming beer, cupcakes and cheese fries with gravy
@Sue – so what did you do your deads at and how long did it take you? it couldn’t of been that bad……and if it was just be glad it wasn’t the 10k run from the other day
I’ll try to bring some macaroni salad, and beer on friday
December 17th, 2008 at 12:02 am
@Dan. That’s just not fair. No one could do the Becky Challenge for 6 weeks. No one. Sure, you could make it two or three weeks on only cupcakes, applesauce, and milkshakes, but that fourth week has made grown men cry.
Oh — and please tell your fab dad Bernie that he gets to meet the lovely Melissa on Wed night. I have dental surgery scheduled, so Melissa and Kirk will be running the entire shebang on Wed night.
December 17th, 2008 at 9:23 am
hey all, we will bring cheese products, nuts and some veggies.
@lis, i watched that video, i want 3 minutes of my life back please.
i did your metcon last night after performace menu, 6:24, 155# (should have gone heavier).
looking forward to the male strippers.

December 23rd, 2008 at 1:05 am
Nice work, Matt!
